Hillsborough covenants require a property assessment per homeowner per year and are due before June 1st of each year. The assessed fee is $50 per year. This assessment is not an option, but an amount set by the Board of Directors and in compliance with the HALO covenants. Property assessments are $50 per year and are due on or before June 1st. Your annual property assessment pays for landscaping, mowing, watering, maintenance of boundary fencing, equipment, repair, upkeep and replacement of common facilities, which include recreational facilities such as tennis courts, playgrounds and parks, pathways and green areas, signs, and entrances for Hillsborough, as well as special events.
Homeowners will incur a $50 administrative fee if property assessments are not received on or before June 1st. A lien for violation of the covenants with regard to non-payment of property assessments will be placed on properties that are delinquent two or more years.
If you are a new homeowner and were not made aware of any outstanding property assessments left unpaid by the Seller at the time of closing, you should contact your closing agent who is responsible for collection and payment of any outstanding assessments.
